Bijoux Chics Jewellery: My Journey
In 2008, while working in law—a field where creativity felt distant—I took a jewellery-making night class that changed everything. The moment I picked up a pair of pliers, I felt something ignite. One class led to more, and soon I was diving into night courses, an entrepreneurship program, and joining the Toronto Bead Society. For the first time, I felt surrounded by creative minds and true inspiration.
But creativity wasn’t entirely new to me. I grew up near Paris in an artistic home. My mother, a talented multi-skilled artist for over 20 years, often transformed raw materials into beauty. Her passion deeply influenced me.
When I started designing, I worked with gemstones, crystals, and pearls, crafting timeless, elegant pieces. Collaborating with fellow artists introduced me to techniques like soutache, wirework, and resin. In 2017, I embraced metalwork—my favorite medium—combining it with stones for striking, textured designs.
Nature, symbols, and mid-20th-century jewellery inspire my work. I gravitate toward turquoise, amethyst, malachite, and jasper, pairing them with copper and sterling silver. I often draw inspiration from Alexander Calder, the renowned metal artist.
Each day, I learn, create, and challenge myself to grow. At Bijoux Chics Jewellery, my mission is simple: to craft unique, high-quality jewellery that brings beauty, joy, and meaning to those who wear it.
